Internet Protocol Version 6.0 (IPv6)

The switch over to the latest technology has become essential, as the initial version of address platform, IPv4, is at present overloaded with 18.4 million registered addresses in India and will run out of space by March 2012. With the rollout of 3G and BWA services, for which spectrum auctions were conducted recently, the deficit is bound to become more acute. IPv6 offers a larger address space than the current IPv4, as it uses 128-bit address as compared to the limited addressing space of only 32 bits in IPv4.
